| Online poker is fine for goofing around, but only play live for real money. There is no incentive for the online poker rooms to be honest. No one will ever be able or allowed to read every line of their softwaere to catch them, so they can safely manipulate the game. They do cheat so enjoy any short term gains, and do not expect any long term gains.the best player in the world can not beat a stacke |

LOL So, when I was watching the EPT last night and someone was described as playing online poker for a living must have been a "stooge" paid off by the online poker sites "cover up team" In fact, I have heard this several times whilst watching live tournaments. There must be a whole team of "stooges" employed to make people believe they can earn a living online. Now I get it- THANKS!!!! |

Tip for those beginners, who would like to play tight, but don't have enough discipline, especially in preflop. So you decided: you will put money in the pot only if you have Then you get Q5s, and you think "hey, I could get a flush and win a lot", and you call. And round after round, you disregard your initial idea and keep playing too loosely. The problem is that you get bored: when you fold, you have to wait until the other players have finished. And now, the solution: play on more than one table at once. You won't get bored hand after hand, and you will be able to fold more often, and eventually be a tighter player. |

Nice tip, MaloBalo... I often play a ring game whilst playing a big tournament for that exact reason! Anyone have any others they´d care to share?

Make sure your ring game is smaller then your tournament. If you are playing a $5 MTT where first prize is $250 and you sit at a ring game playing 5/10 or 10/20 and lose $300, you're not going to do well in your tournament. And conversely this $5 tournament which you may do very well in, will seem too small and insignificant for you to play. "why would I play a tournament for the price of a big blind at my cash table. The payout isn't good enough." -------------------------

In cash games pick your table carefully. There is nothing wrong with observing the table before buying in. High number of hands per hour with high pots indicates that some people are not thinking and just calling stations. Low number of hands small pots can indicate straigt and flush drawers. |

you need discipline wether you play online or live.Loose play will cost you money in the long run,and multi tables will double your losses.Get your discipline right then move onto multi tables when you get the basics right |

YMMV For some players, playing on more than one table may help discipline; for other, it may really make things worse. In general, I would not recommend playing on different kind of tables, like a tournament and a cash game, or a PL and a NL. The tables should have the same rules, or it is easy to make confusion, and play in an inconsistent manner. |

My top tip is not new or ground breaking or unique, I read it somehere but it's a bit of a mantra for me. "Bet more than you call, but fold more than you bet" I don't lose on purpose. |
