hi all, the latest show of forum spirit has done it for me i'm afraid, i've been suffering discons a lot lately which has stopped me entering a lot of tourneys, but of course the morning session is different.....isn't it?
i lost a few kitty's over the few games i've played because of it & thats fair enough, i can't complain nor do i but when i'm watching helpless with the winning hand & see the kitty being stolen it takes the fun out of playing & quite frankly it's both frustrating & annoying, when it happened at a key moment a couple of days ago i grinned & beared it although it effectively put me out of the game, when it happened today it was in a chip leading kitty, i had the other player crushed & the kitty was stolen from me & again effectively finished my game
in anticipation of replies let me say i couldn't care less about my early exit, winning a morning session is a bonus & always a buzz but thats not the reason i play in the morning league & knew before i registered i couldn't possibly win because of the disconnections, i enter for the fun i get from playing amongst friends with the same easy going attitude & not the usual thrust & parry of 'normal' tourneys
that's 1 point, another is that it's easy to say 'forum spirit' & 'we waited' when it's not an important kitty, or it's early in the game, or if you know you've got the winning hand and have nothing to lose by waiting, no the test of 'forum spirit' comes into play when ur either going to be chip leader or next casualty & decide to raise before the other player is reconnected & so end the hand, that is not in anyway acceptable to me, it has to be a two way street, dont hide behind the 'i waited' routine only u can press the bet button so u didn't wait, u pressed the button because u knew u'd lost & saw a chance to take advantage of my predicament, if u had confidence in ur hand no doubt u would have waited
i'll offer proof of my "forum spirit" , not to boast in any way but to state a fact, here goes
when i was h/u a few leagues ago (could have been the 1 i won) , me & easty were having a great game & it became obvious he wasn't 'at the table' i checked all hands no matter what i held so that we still had the same stack as when he became disconnected, this went on for an enbelieveably long time & eventually i had to wrap the game up & i sent him half the cash with my apologies as i didn't want to win like that (i was chippo & may well have won anyway)
that is 1 of many instances of my ethics & i know most of the players share the same view
so enjoy ur hollow victory, wd, wp, absolutely marvellous, what a hoot aren't u clever etc etc
winning means more to some than others
